On August 11th, Radio Bolivariana WM officially starts to broadcast, thanks to Monsignor FELX HENAO BOTERO and the enthusiasm of several students who loved radio, among them the first director JAIME SALAZAR MONTOYA. Special Remark: Since the first day, the AM broadcast started editing a programming bulleting.
The program is structured with new ideas and programs. Law students are in charge of the cultural programs and the Electrical Engineers are responsible for the technical part.
Radio Bolivariana starts to collect successes: the former students who started the station make part of big enterprises and important media companies. Some of them are BERNARDO HOYOS, IVO MEJIA, MIGUEL RESTREPO, DAIRO CARDENAS, RAUL AGULAR, JAIME SALAZAR, ALBERTO UPEGUI, JOSE LUIS RESTREPO, etc.
HUMBERTO GARCÍA, a second year Law student, starts working at the station, first as anchor, then programmer and finally, director since 1972.
In its Silver Anniversary, the program is extended from 7 to 18 daily hours.
The University decides to renew all the equipment. A 10 Kw-powered equipment is bought, covering almost all the Antioquenian region.
The University applies and gets the license for the establishment of a new educational station, for the city of Medellín in F.M. in the 92.4 Mhz.
On December 1st, The Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana gives the city of Medellín and the surrounding municipalities, the new RADIO BOLIVARIANA F.M. 92.4 Mhz , “The Highest Note.”
